Highlights • Bangladeshi student suicidal ideation was assessed during the COVID-19 outbreak.• The prevalence estimate of suicidal ideation was 12.8%.• Potential protective factors were being male, regular exercise, and good studies.• Potential risk related to sleep, cigarette smoking, and prior/familial suicidality.• Suicidal ideation linked to stress and poor mental health (depression, anxiety).
