Traditional family planning in Bangladesh.

Abstract

A study entitled “Strengthening Population Policy and Research Capacity in Bangladesh” was carried out through the collaborative effort of the Population Council Bangladesh; the National Institute of Population Research and Training; the Maternal and Child Health-Family Planning Extension Project; and the Associates for Community and Population Research. The project emphasizes on the traditional family planning in Bangladesh. Overall results show that couples have come to accept the need to limit their family size by acknowledging the use of various contraceptive methods. Both traditional and modern methods of contraception have been increasing in prevalence over time with the prevalence of modern methods increasing more quickly.
