The Educational Context of Bangladesh : An Overview

This book offers a comprehensive, critical review of the lessons learnt from the English in Action (EIA) English language teacher development programme, which has run in government primary and secondary schools across Bangladesh from 2008 to 2017. It is structured in four parts. Part 1 focuses on the political, social, economic, linguistic and educational context of the Programme and provides a background for the succeeding chapters. Part 2 sets out the principles of teacher professional development (TPD) in low and middle-income countries (LMICs) and the detail of EIA’s TPD model and materials.
