Color breakup visibility thresholds for 2‐field sequential colors

Abstract

Abstract Nowadays local primary desaturation has been proved to be an effective method to suppress the color breakup for field‐sequential‐color (FSC) displays. However, little attention has been focused on the interaction between various subfield colors and the color breakup visibility. In this article, a perception experiment was conducted with the help of a 120 Hz 2‐field FSC display to investigate the thresholds of color breakup visibility along different hue directions with a constant white point in the standard color space. The experimental results show that the color breakup visibility is various when using different subfield colors for temporal combination.
