Abstract

Industrial scroll saw commonly powered by grid electricity, expensive, bulky, not portable, inefficient, and are not operational in off-grid areas. In this paper, a scroll saw is proposed and designed to run by both grid electricity and solar DC source. The initial target was to demonstrate a locally made Scroll Saw machine that can be easily replaced if any damage to the device as the whole machine is made of wood to minimize cost with enhanced reliability. In the system, a motor is powered by the solar panel by inverting the DC solar power to AC power. For avoiding high starting torque, 3-phase topologies are selected.
