Abstract
A hydrophilic ionic liquid (IL), [EMIM][MeSO<sub>4</sub>] served as a self directing template during synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) by chemical precipitation and the size and morphology of ZnO NPs depended on the concentration of the IL.
