Design and Fabrication of a Battery-Powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for Precision Agricultural Monitoring Missions

Abstract

Bangladesh is overwhelmingly an agriculture-based country. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle’s present a considerably low cost option for remote sensing of agricultural land to monitor the growth and health of crops and aid in decision-making that result in reduced farming costs and increased yields from agricultural lands. In this paper we present the design and fabrication of a fixed-wing UAV for precision monitoring of agricultural lands. The UAV is designed to carry a 0.3 kg high-resolution imaging payload at a maximum altitude of 300 – 500 feet for duration of 3 – 4 hours.
