Safety Analysis: Observed Deficiencies in Existing Transportation System of Bangladesh

Abstract

Road traffic accidents and overall safety issues are dreadfully integrated with the fragile transportation system of Bangladesh like many other developing countries in the world. Tragic trends of fatal personal injuries and property damages have become a regular phenomenon and only a through safety analysis can contribute to counteract these problems. According to World Health Organization (WHO) 22.8 percent global injury mortality causes due to road traffic accidents. Since road accidents accrue from multiple causes, safety of the transportation system depends to a great extent on the complex interaction between road users like pedestrian, passengers and vehicles whether motorized or non-motorized.
