Assessment of the quality of data in 41 WFS Surveys: a comparative approach.

Abstract
This report summarizes the results of internal consistency checks on quality and external comparisons with recent data for all 41 World Fertility Surveys (WFS). Common sources of error are identified in 4 areas: age reporting nuptiality fertility and infant and child mortality. Survey results were more accurate than external sources in all areas except age reporting. 7 countries (Kenya Lesotho Sudan Yemen AR Bangladesh Nepal and Haiti) had severe problems in both age reporting and fertility results. Benin Cameroon and Dominican Republic had severe problems on 1 and some problems on the other of these 2 topics. Senegal and Paraguay had marked problems with age reporting whereas Ivory Coast Morocco Mauritania Pakistan and Indonesia had marked problems with fertility results.…
