Abstract
Although zinc (Zn) and boron (B) positively influence yield and quality of onion (Allium cepa L.) seed, the response is genotype dependent and the interaction of both elements is rarely studied. The study was conducted to investigate the quality of onion, cv. Taherpuri, seed production as influenced by Zn and B fertilization. Three levels of Zn: 0 kg·ha−1 (control), 7 kg·ha−1, or 12 kg·ha−1; three levels of B: 0 kg·ha−1 (control), 6 kg·ha−1, or 8 kg·ha−1; or any combination of both were studied. Factors assessed were number of umbels/plant, number of seeded fruit/umbel, 1000-seed weight, seed yield, and germination percentage. Highest seed yield (3.67 g/plant), seed yield (1073 kg·ha−1), and germination (89.82%) was from the 12 × 8 kg·ha−1 of…
