Abstract
Bangladesh, once forested with mangroves, rain forests and monsoon forests from the delta up into the hills, is now almost completely deforested. Less than five per cent of the original cover remains. Patches of rain forest only survive in the Chittagong Region in the south-east, where four hill ranges run parallel to the coast.
