Abstract

MXenes are a quickly developing group of two-dimensional (2D) materials made up of carbonitrides, nitrides, and carbides of transition metals, have shown great promise in water purification because of their special qualities, including hydrophilicity, tunable surface chemistry, and high surface area. Eliminating heavy metals, organic contaminants, and microbes from water is one of the problems that MXenes may now effectively handle thanks to recent developments in their preparation and functionalization. Nowadays, 2D MXenes can be used as potential candidates for wastewater treatment due to their distinctive characteristics and appealing effectiveness. These include hydrophilicity, significant chemical stability, strong electrical and thermal conductivity, only available reduction and sorption capability, large surface area, and eco-friendly features. The current research and developments on 2D…
