Combating Marine Plastic Pollution: Insights from International Treaties, Case Studies in Bangladesh and Regional Perspective

Abstract

The health of humans, biodiversity, and marine ecosystems is seriously threatened by marine plastic waste. The study offers a comprehensive examination of global and regional initiatives aimed at addressing marine plastic pollution, with a focus on international agreements and case studies from around the world, including those from Bangladesh. This review article employs a qualitative methodology, analysing secondary data from scientific literature, policy documents, and case studies to assess the status, challenges, and responses to marine plastic waste. This analysis identifies significant gaps in enforcement, infrastructure, public awareness, innovation, and coordination.
