Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey 1999-2000.

Abstract
With the collaboration of the National Institute of Population Research and Training Mitra and Associates and ORC Macro (USA) the 1999-2000 Bangladesh Demographic Health Survey was implemented. The survey provides updated estimates of the basic national demographic and health indicators as well as a comprehensive analysis at levels and trends in key health and demographic parameters for policy makers and program managers. Survey data show that the declining trend in fertility is associated with a steady increase in contraceptive use where contraceptive prevalence is higher in urban than in rural areas.
