Protein Folding Optimization in a Hydrophobic-Polar Model for Predicting Tertiary Structure Using Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm

Abstract
Protein folding optimization (PFO) for tertiary structure of protein is the most challenging and NP-hard problem. Different optimization algorithms have been applied to solve this problem but none of gives outstanding performance. Fruit Fly Optimization Algorithm (FOA) has high optimization and small computational complexity for searching optimal structure. Therefore, in this paper we applied fruit fly optimization algorithm for solving PFO problem in HP lattice model. In order to increase the convergence, we have designed three operator of FOA: smell-based search procedure, local vision-based search procedure and global vision-based search procedure. Moreover, we designed a reconstruction operator for constructing accurate structure of protein sequences.
